Our Story

Founded in 2023, Patterson Place exists to change the way the world views adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities — as individuals capable of growth, contribution, and meaningful connection.

We provide structured weekday programming where our Citizens participate in purposeful work, hands-on vocational enterprises, and supported community engagement. Through routine, responsibility, and consistent support, adults are encouraged to continue growing well beyond the school years in a safe, supervised environment.

As we grow, Patterson Place remains focused on thoughtful, sustainable development that reflects the long-term needs of the individuals and families we serve — creating a place of love, acceptance, and purpose today and for the future.

Founder’s Note

Patterson Place began with two questions that stayed with me long after childhood:

What happens to Robbie after school?
And what happens to him if something happens to my parents — or to me?

Robbie is my brother, and growing up alongside him shaped how I understand ability, dignity, and community. As he approached adulthood, it became clear how quickly structured opportunities narrow once school ends. Even more unsettling was the reality that many families face — the uncertainty of long-term care, belonging, and stability for the people they love most.

Patterson Place was created to respond to that uncertainty with something tangible. Today, we provide adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities a place for meaningful days — where they can do purposeful work, build friendships, and grow in confidence within a safe, structured, and supportive environment.

At the same time, we are deeply aware that daytime programming is only part of the bigger picture. The need for long-term, community-based living options is real, complex, and urgent. While residential services require thoughtful planning and the right foundation, they remain an important part of our long-term vision.

This community exists because of families who trust us, staff who lead with professionalism and heart, and a wider community that believes adults with disabilities deserve full, purposeful lives — not just for today, but for the future.

With gratitude,

Who We Are

We are a community built on faith, dignity, and belonging.

Patterson Place is more than a program — it is a place where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities are empowered to live with purpose. Our Citizens are artisans, bakers, makers, and creators. They are contributors to something bigger than themselves, and their work matters.

Our team is made up of passionate staff, volunteers, families, and supporters who believe in changing the way the world views adults with special needs. Together, we create an environment that is:

Every day, we witness growth, joy, and transformation — not just in our Citizens, but in everyone who walks through our doors.
